About the flag

Cameroon's flag has three vertical bands of green, red and yellow, with a yellow five-pointed star in the centre of the red band. It uses the pan-African colours, and the star, often called the star of unity, was added in 1975 when the country became a unitary state. Green is often linked to the forests of the south and yellow to the savanna of the north.

Often confused with

Cameroon
Senegal

Senegal's bands are green, yellow and red, and its star is green on the yellow middle band. A yellow star on a red middle band means Cameroon.
