Frequently asked questions

Playing

What can I play for free?

Every mode, region and difficulty is available to guests. Choose Flags, Capitals, Languages, Country shapes, Pin Drop or Mixed. Each game has 10 rounds, with a fact card after each answer.

Why is there a daily limit?

Guests can play three games per local day, plus the daily challenge separately. This keeps free play available while Premium supports the service. The limit is stored in this browser: we do not fingerprint your device or track your IP to enforce it.

What counts as a game?

A regular game counts when its first question appears, even if you later quit. Opening a lobby does not count. The daily challenge does not use your three-game allowance, and the regular allowance resets on the next local day.

What is different about Expert?

Explorer draws random wrong options from the selected region. Expert prioritises flag look-alikes, similar names, trap cities and neighbouring countries where appropriate. Each question still has exactly one right answer. Pin Drop has no multiple-choice options.

What are levels and XP?

Every game you finish earns XP: your score divided by 10, plus a bonus if you win a medal, plus a small bonus for your first game each day. Your level comes from your total XP, and your title changes every few levels as you climb. Levels need a free account; guests don't earn XP.

What is a day streak?

Your day streak counts the days in a row on which you finish at least one game, using your own local time. Miss a day and it starts again from one. Your longest day streak is always kept.

Scoring

How are quiz points calculated?

A correct answer earns 500 points, plus up to 500 for speed: the full bonus within one second, falling linearly to zero at 15 seconds. A wrong answer or timeout earns zero. The maximum is 10,000 points. The timer stops while the fact card is open.

How does Pin Drop scoring work?

You have 30 seconds to place your pin. Capital rounds measure distance to the capital; country rounds measure distance to the country’s outline, with zero distance inside it. You earn 1,000 points inside the country or within 25 km of the target. Beyond that, the score is rounded from 1,000 × e^(−distance in km / 1,500). There is no speed bonus.

What does “On target” mean in Pin Drop?

A pin is on target within 250 km of the capital in a capital round, or inside the country or within 250 km of its outline in a country round. This counts as a correct round for your answer streak and stats; it does not always mean the full 1,000 points. A miss resets your answer streak.

Premium and billing

What does Premium include?

Premium costs $1.99 per month or $11.99 per year. It includes unlimited games, no ads, personal bests saved to your account, and your full stats history kept forever. Free accounts keep the last 3 days of stats. Levels, XP and day streaks are free for everyone with an account and are never Premium-only. Modes, regions and difficulty settings are never Premium-only. Paddle is the merchant of record for payments.

How do I cancel Premium?

Open your account and choose Manage subscription to open Paddle’s customer portal. Cancel there to stop the next renewal. Your plan remains active until its paid period ends; check the end date shown in your account.

What happens when Premium ends?

You return to the guest allowance of three games per local day, plus the daily challenge. Games you play while signed in are still saved to your account, but only the last 3 days are kept. Anything saved while you were Premium stays permanently. Your level, XP and day streak are never affected. Guest ads may appear outside gameplay once advertising launches.

How do I request a refund?

Paddle handles refunds as merchant of record. Use the support link in your Paddle receipt or visit Paddle buyer support. See our refund policy for details. Refunds follow Paddle’s buyer terms and applicable consumer rights.

Accounts and privacy

How do I sign in, and is there a minimum age?

Use Google or an email magic link; there is no AtlasGenie password. You must be at least 13 and accept the Terms and Privacy policy at your first sign-in. Accounts support Premium; an account without an active plan has the guest play allowance.

Are my scores saved if I sign in?

Yes. Free accounts keep the last 3 days of games and stats, and Premium keeps everything. Your level, XP and day streak are always kept, whatever your plan.

How do I download my data or delete my account?

Your account has Download my data for a JSON copy of your profile, games and personal bests. To delete your account, first cancel Premium and wait until it is no longer active. Then choose Delete account and type DELETE. You can also choose to clear AtlasGenie data on this device. Payment records required for billing are not erased by deleting your game account.

What stays in my browser?

Guest limits, local bests and settings use local storage. Clearing browser data can erase them; it does not cancel Premium. Use Privacy settings to choose whether Google Analytics can measure visits and game interactions. Advertising is disabled. See the Privacy policy and Cookie policy for the storage keys and your choices.

How do I report a wrong answer?

Email hello@atlasgenie.world with the country, mode and question you think is wrong, plus what the correct answer should be and a source if possible. For a technical problem, include your device, browser and what happened.
