About the flag

Mali's flag is three vertical bands of green, yellow and red, with green at the flagpole. It uses the pan-African colours and was adopted in 1961, after a black figure was removed from the earlier version. Green is usually read as hope and the land, yellow as purity and mineral wealth, and red as the blood shed for independence.
