About the flag

The Dutch flag is three equal horizontal bands of red, white and blue. It descends from the orange, white and blue Prince's Flag of William of Orange in the 16th-century revolt against Spain; the orange band gradually became red. It is one of the oldest tricolours still in use, and its colours were officially fixed in 1937.
