About the flag
Finland's flag is white with a blue Nordic cross, set towards the flagpole. It is often called Siniristilippu, the blue cross flag. Blue is usually read as the country's many lakes and the sky, and white as the snow of its winters. It was adopted in 1918, shortly after independence from Russia.
