About the flag

Egypt's flag is three horizontal stripes of red, white and black, with the golden Eagle of Saladin in the centre of the white stripe. The colours come from the Arab Liberation flag of the 1952 revolution: red for the struggle, white for the peaceful revolution and black for the end of oppression. The current design dates from 1984.
