About the flag
Israel's flag is white with two horizontal blue stripes and a blue Star of David in the centre. The design is based on the tallit, the Jewish prayer shawl, which is white with blue stripes. It was first used by the Zionist movement in the late 19th century and adopted as the national flag in 1948.
