About the flag

Greece's flag has nine horizontal stripes of blue and white, with a white cross on a blue square in the top corner by the flagpole. The nine stripes are often said to stand for the nine syllables of the motto "Eleftheria i Thanatos", freedom or death. The cross represents Greek Orthodox Christianity, and blue and white are often linked to the sea and sky.

Uruguay

Uruguay's flag also has nine blue and white stripes, but its corner shows a golden sun with a face, not a cross.
