About the flag
Thailand's flag, the Thong Trairong or tricolour flag, has five horizontal stripes: red, white, a blue stripe twice as wide as the others, then white and red. It was adopted in 1917. Red stands for the nation, white for religion and blue for the monarchy.
Often confused with
Costa Rica's flag uses the same colours the other way round: blue on the outside and a wide red stripe in the middle. A wide blue middle stripe means Thailand.
