About the flag

Kuwait's flag has three horizontal stripes of green, white and red, with a black trapezoid at the flagpole. It was adopted in 1961 at independence and uses the Pan-Arab colours. A poem by Safie Al-Deen Al-Hali is often quoted to explain them: white for deeds, black for battles, green for land and red for the future.
