About the flag
The flag of the Democratic Republic of the Congo is sky blue with a red diagonal stripe edged in yellow, and a yellow five-pointed star in the top corner by the flagpole. The current design was adopted in 2006. Blue stands for peace, red for the blood of the country's martyrs, yellow for its wealth and the star for a bright future.
Often confused with
Only the names are similar: the Republic of the Congo is the smaller neighbour across the Congo River, and its flag has diagonal green, yellow and red bands.
