About the flag
Bahrain's flag is red with a white band at the flagpole, separated by a serrated edge of five white points. Since 2002 the five points have represented the Five Pillars of Islam. Red has long been the colour of the Gulf's maritime flags, and the white band was added in the 19th century to mark friendly ships. The flag's proportions are 3:5.
