About the flag

New Zealand's flag is dark blue with the Union Jack in the top corner by the flagpole and the Southern Cross on the right, shown as four red five-pointed stars with white borders. It became the official national flag in 1902. In 2015 and 2016 the country held two referendums on changing it, and voters chose to keep it.
