About the flag
Jamaica's flag has a gold diagonal cross dividing it into four triangles: green at the top and bottom, black at the flagpole and the free end. Gold represents sunlight and the island's natural wealth, green the land and black the strength and creativity of the people. It was adopted at independence in 1962, and it is one of very few national flags with no red, white or blue.
