About the flag
Dominica's flag is green with a cross of yellow, black and white stripes. In the centre is a red disc showing a Sisserou parrot, the national bird, surrounded by ten green stars for the island's ten parishes. It is one of very few national flags that use the colour purple, in the parrot's feathers.
Often confused with
Only the names are similar: the Dominican Republic shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti, and its flag is a white cross on blue and red quarters.
