How AtlasGenie scoring works

AM Ismail - AtlasGenie Team · Published · Updated

Every AtlasGenie game has 10 rounds, and each round is worth up to 1,000 points, so the best possible score is 10,000. Here's exactly how the points are worked out.

Points for a right answer

A correct answer always earns 500 points. On top of that, you earn a speed bonus of up to 500 points:

  • Answer within 1 second and you get the full 500 bonus, for 1,000 points.
  • After that, the bonus falls steadily until the 15-second timer runs out, when it reaches zero.
  • For example, a correct answer after 8 seconds earns 500 plus a 250 bonus, so 750 points.

A wrong answer, or no answer before the timer ends, scores 0 for that round. The timer only starts once the question and its images are on screen, so a slow connection never costs you points.

Medals

Your total decides your medal at the end of the game:

Score Medal
4,000 or more Bronze
6,500 or more Silver
8,500 or more Gold
10,000 (perfect) Genie

The Genie medal needs every answer right and every answer within a second, so it's rare.

Answer streaks

Your answer streak counts how many correct answers you've given in a row, and the flame next to your score shows it during the game. Answer streaks don't add points, but your best answer streak appears on the results screen. This is different from a day streak, which counts days played and is covered below.

Pin Drop scores by distance

Pin Drop works differently, because you place a pin on a globe instead of choosing from four answers:

  • 1,000 points if your pin is within 25 km of the capital, or anywhere inside the right country.
  • Further away, the points fall smoothly: about 717 at 500 km, 368 at 1,500 km and 36 at 5,000 km.
  • A round counts as on target within 250 km, or inside the country, which keeps your answer streak going.
  • Each round has 30 seconds and there's no speed bonus.

XP and levels

Every game you finish earns XP towards your next level:

  • Your score divided by 10, rounded down.
  • A medal bonus: 50 for Bronze, 100 for Silver, 200 for Gold and 500 for Genie.
  • An extra 25 XP for your first game of the day.

For example, a Gold game scoring 9,840 earns 984 + 200 = 1,184 XP.

Level 2 starts at 300 XP and level 3 at 700 XP, and from there each new level needs another 400 XP. Titles run from Wanderer at level 1 to Genie's Equal at level 50. Levels need a free account, and they're never affected by the 3-day stats rule: your level and XP stay with your account.

Day streaks

Your day streak counts the consecutive days on which you finish at least one game, using your own local time. Miss a day and it starts again from 1 the next time you play. Your longest day streak is kept permanently.

Personal bests

AtlasGenie keeps your best score for every mode, region and difficulty separately, so a World game on Expert never competes with Europe on Explorer. When you beat a best, the results screen shows "New best".

  • Guests keep their bests in this browser.
  • Free accounts keep saved games for the last 3 days.
  • Premium keeps everything forever, across devices.
